Abstract: 

In this research, a new and environmentally friendly chemical sensor was introduced using Bromopyrogallol red (BPR) to determine trace amounts of aluminum and fluoride ions in dimethyl sulfoxide/water (5.5, v/v) solvent. The results showed that the color of BPR changes from red to violet under the influence of visible light in the presence of aluminum ions. This chemical sensor can selectively detect aluminum with a detection limit 2.21×10-7 and quantitation limit 7.37×10-7 mol L−1. Upon addition of aluminum ion, the absorbance signal of [Al-BPR] increased linearly in the concentration range of 1.60×10−6 - 8.06×10−5 mol L−1. In addition, [Al–BPR] complex can be used for the determination of F-. The signal of [Al-BPR] upon addition of F- decreased linearly in the concentration range of 4.0×10-5 - 8.80×10-4 -. The relative standard deviation (RSD) for 5 times of measurement (n=5) in two concentrations of 1.87×10-5 and 3.07×10-5 mol L−1 of aluminum are 2.9% and 2.1% respectively. To determine the stoichiometry of the reaction between BPR receptor and aluminum ion, the molar ratio method was used. According to the experiments, this ratio was determined to be 1:1. BPR can also be used to detect aluminum ions in different water samples with high recovery percentage.

Abstract: 

A simple, rapid and selective complexometric method is proposed for the determination of mercury(II). Mercury(II) and other related metal ions are first complexed with an excess of EDTA and the surplus EDTA is back-titrated with a standard lead nitrate solution at pH 5.0-6.0 (hexamine buffer) using xylenol orange as an indicator. A 0.2% solution of 2-thiazolinethiol in acetone is then added to displace EDTA from the Hg(II)-EDTA complex. The released EDTA is titrated with a standard lead nitrate solution as before. Reproducible and accurate results are obtained in the range of 0.8 g l-1-15.8 g l-1 of mercury with a relative error less than ±0.25% and a coefficient of variation (n = 6) not higher than 0.28%. The interference of various ions was studied and the method was employed for the analysis of mercury in its synthetic alloy mixtures and in complexes.

Abstract: 

In finance field, two ways are the most important to analysis, fundamental and technical analysis. Different experience showed that, using one of them, independently, cannot bring in return more than they are used together. So, it seems are needed more researches in this section of finance field. In technical analysis by using information such as prices and traded volume, indicators are calculated and base on roles that introduce with them, decision are made. It probably the normal roles of indicators are not profitable more than before and are not able to bring extreme return to investors that use them. In stock market without enough efficiency, using technical analysis caused returns more than using fundamental analysis, independently. In this paper will tested to optimize indicators’ normal roles and is tried to produce efficient tools to bring return more. So that are used 50 companies that are much traded in years between 21 of march 2008 to 20 of march 2012 and optimizing are done first by using trying all of area and in second step by using enetic algorithm and finally compare to result from normal roles of indicators and buy and hold.

Abstract: 

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS), a cluster of cardiometabolic risk factors, consider as a manifestation of obesity. However, a proportion of obese patients do not develop MetS. The aim of our study was to deter-mine whether concentration of plasma adiponectin and leptin differ between metabolic unhealthy obese (MUO) patients and comparable age-and sex-matched control groups. Methods: In this case-control study, we assigned 51 obese patients with MetS (MUO) in cases group and 102 metabolic healthy obese (MHO) and normal weight metabolic healthy subjects matched for age and gender to cases in control groups. The study was conducted between December 2014 and February 2016 in the Endocri-nology Research Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. We measured serum adi-ponectin, leptin, their ratio, and body composition in all subjects. Results: No significant differences were observed between MHO and MUO in term of total fat mass and trunk fat (P>0. 05). Compared to MHO and normal weight metabolic healthy subjects, MUO subjects had low-er levels of plasma adiponectin (P<0. 001) and lower plasma adiponectin to leptin ratio (P<0. 001) and a higher level of plasma leptin (P<0. 002). A Receiver Operator Characteristic curve was used to identify the ability of adiponectin and leptin level to predict the MetS. The area under the Receiver Operator Characteristic curve was 0. 66 (P<0. 01), 0. 73 (P<0. 001) and 0. 75 (P<0. 001) for leptin, adiponectin, and adiponectin/leptin ratio levels respectively. Conclusion: Our study introduced adiponectin and leptin as indicator of MetS and obesity respectively.

Abstract: 

Background and purpose: Current scientometric indicators have some strengths and weaknesses. This study was conducted with the aim of developing a new scientometric index for the comprehensive scientific evaluation of researchers, the so-called multifold index. Materials and methods: The study was conducted with 96 researchers from Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences with at least two articles in Scopus and at least one citation to the articles. A checklist was used that included variables, such as the scientific age of each individual, the square root of the total number of each article, the sum of references to top articles, the H-index, etc. Some statistical analyzes such as factor analysis, KMO test and Bartlett’s test for sphericity, correlation matrix and SPSS software version 22 were used. Test functional characteristics and area under the rock curve were used, and sensitization was performed, extracting 99% predictive power and diagnostic power (0.7). Results: When calculating the multifold index, the H-index has the largest weight of 0.238, and the numerical value it provides is appropriate and measures all aspects of a person's scientific activity. This index is different for researchers who have the same H-index. Conclusion: The Multifold Index leads to a qualitative assessment and takes into account all aspects of a person's scientific activity. It can be used for assessments, predictions about the scientific status of researchers, educational and research groups and for creating a comprehensive scientific map of the country.

Abstract: 

The presence of heavy metals in water makes water unfit for use and causes various hazardous health problems. This research investigates the physical and chemical properties of the collected industrial effluent samples of different industries and the use of burnt potato peels (BPP) as adsorbents to remove heavy metal ions from industrial effluents. Various parameters such as pH, adsorbent volume, and contact time were investigated. The concentration of heavy metal ions was accurately quantified using complexometric titration and atomic absorption spectroscopic analyses. Various heavy metals such as Co+, Mg+, Fe+, Pb+, and Cd+ were found in the samples with varying concentrations. The burnt potato peels showed the maximum adsorption of about 61% at pH 9, 60 min contact time, 0.5 g of burnt potato peels, and 10 mg/L of sample concentration.
